AYM Games Three-Peat

Over the past week youth groups from across the Diocese have gathered to participate in Anglican Youth Movement’s (AYM’s) combined youth nights, called ‘The Games’.

We started in Palmerston North for the Northern night on the 23rd, hosted by All Saints Palmerston North. Next up was the Southern Intermediate Night on the 29th, hosted by All Saints Hataitai, and it finished on Friday with the  Southern High School Night, hosted by Silverstream.

The point of ‘The Games’ is to highlight to young people that there is this bigger movement they are a part of. So although you may have a young group or a small group, you can come and participate in the big group.

A big part of ‘The Games’ is food, so it was important to start and end with a BBQ and Ice Cream respectively. The rest of the night is about participating together as groups. We split the crowd that gathered at each event across youth groups, then played some games for the rest of the evening. One game is the Mousetrap game, where teams are trying to direct their blindfolded player to the chocolate in the circle all the while missing the set mousetraps.

Groups walked away having a fun night out, meeting new friends across the movement and preparing for Easter Retreat in just a few weeks!

Next up for AYM is Easter Retreat, with all information found here: https://aymwellington.nz/easter
