The Harvest Before Us - Bishop Justin

We are facing the current crisis through renewal and discipleship. 

Matthew 9: Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages teaching in the synagogues and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and curing every disease and every sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few, therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest. 

Bishop Justin reminded us that we continue to be in a critical moment in history. We continue to come across people who are in distress and, as the passage says, like a sheep without a shepherd.  

We are confronted with such challenge on a local and global scale and everyday we meet people looking for stability. However, as a church, says Bishop Justin, we need to shift our paradigm to believing in a ripe harvest before us. And we need to pray for more workers into that harvest field.  

“What I think we have done, is to equate these challenging times with having no fruit. But they are different categories,” he says.  

Justin went on to tell several stories of God’s activity in the diocese and people stepping out in faith to be used by God.  

“My experience is that people who say yes to go to the harvest field, they don’t regret it. They love it. They love following God and having outrageous adventures.” 

Actions to consider: 

• How might you put yourself in a position to be discipled to become a worker in the harvest  

• Identify and take 3-5 others along into the harvest field to disciple them  

• Commit to praying for more workers for the harvest.
