Join us at Training Day 2024

Children’s Ministry and Childcare

You’ve asked, we’ve listened! We’re working on ways to provide meaningful childcare at our Training Day in both Wellington and Palmerston North. We’re not quite at the stage of being able to confirm whether or not this will happen (we’re close though), but it would be really helpful if you could complete this form to register an expression of interest as this will help our planning.

  • Arrive at 9:30 for a hot drink before the programme begins at 10 am (ends at 4 pm).

    Where:
The Street City Church, 9 Hania St, Te Aro, Wellington

    Worship:
Rev Dan Conolly, co-vicar at St John the Baptist, Northcote, Auckland with MCs Rev Annette Cater and Cassandra Mesa

  • 9:30 am - Arrival

10:00 am - Main session Plenary

    11:00 am - Morning workshops

    12:30 pm - Lunch

1:30 pm - Afternoon workshops one

2:30 pm - Afternoon workshop two

    3:30 pm - Closing / Poroporaki

  • Childcare
You’ve asked, we’ve listened! We’re working on ways to provide meaningful childcare at our Training Day in both Wellington and Palmerston North. We’re not quite at the stage of being able to confirm whether or not this will happen (we’re close though), but it would be really helpful if you could complete this form to register an expression of interest as this will help our planning.

    Godly Play
We are aiming to run two Godly Play workshops in Wellington, and one in Palmerston North – these are for children aged 5-100+ (yes, adults are welcome to join in, but we will prioritise our younger saints if needed!), and provide an intergenerational experiential spiritual practice. Places will be strictly limited at these workshops to make sure that those taking part can fully immerse themselves in the experience. Parents / caregivers are welcome to attend or leave their children there (you will need to bring your child to the workshop and register before you leave though), and anyone who is interested in Godly Play is welcome to come and observe – opportunities will be made available at a later date to discuss how Godly Play operates.

    Preschool
We are also working to provide childcare for preschool-aged children (2-4) while the workshops are running. Parents/caregivers will need to register their children.

We are hoping to confirm these options by early next week – keep an eye on the website for details (and those who fill out the form above will be emailed directly). Please note that the teams running these programmes reserve the right to ask you to collect your child if they are not settling into the programme – we want this to be an enjoyable experience for everyone.

  • Attached is a map showing the two main parking locations for the Wellington TD.
At the moment the available car parks are:
    – 42 outside the Life Centre,
    - 20 outside The Street building, and
    - 40 at St Joseph’s Catholic Church pn Brougham St.

This provides us a great opportunity for those of us in the city to use other forms of transport so our friends who come from further away can have peace of mind about parking.
Please consider using public transport, cycling, walking etc. Doing this is kind on the environment as well!

  • Catering
Morning tea and lunch will be provided and Common Good Coffee available for purchase. Bring your own reusable cup if you can!

We will be catering for special diets as best as we can, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free. If you have extreme food allergies then please bring your own food with you.

  • This event is free to attend, but we would be grateful if you would consider making a koha towards the cost of the day.

There will be boxes available for cash, or you can donate via EFTPOS. Your generosity is hugely appreciated and helps us cover the costs of food, education, and the venue for our time together.
