Refugee Resettlement Champion

Phil McCarthy and Tawa Anglicans are the new Refugee Resettlement coordinators for our movement family.

Gendy, Phil and Patricia

Phil has volunteered with sorting household goods and when he heard the call from Bishop Justin at Synod, he was particularly touched.

“This feels like a positive thing to contribute to and sink our teeth into,” said Phil.

“So many mission units from around the Diocese contribute to this work. I’m really looking forward to working with them and supporting our outreach to the refugee community.”

The coordinator manages the inventory of household goods and ensuring the efficient set-up of homes in the Wellington region from goods that have been collected by Parishes for this purpose.

Patricia Cooper gave a huge contribution to this role and has stepped aside after seven years of service.

A new round of collections will soon launch for new arrivals. Please reach out to Phil and offer your support by emailing refugees@anglicanmovement.nz or 021 481 204
