Hotspot: Teams and Leadership in Worshipping Communities Course

Archdeacon for Mission and Ministry, Gendy Thomson, shared with Synod a new course, beginning in April 2022, called Teams and Leadership in Worshipping Communities Course.

This course came out of the expressed need from local leaders of wanting to invest in growing leadership and their teams, and feeling pulled in so many ways.

This offers an opportunity in investment in teams that support the parish leadership DNA.  It is an opportunity to strengthen team health and function by learning together through the next online course and is designed for any teams in ministry or mission  – congregational leaders, vestries, small groups or house churches, worship teams, pastoral care teams, rest-home visiting teams etc. Teams sign up together and go on the learning journey as a collective.

The curriculum over the four-month course is based around team development, including theology and ecclesiology and leadership tools, and teaching takes place over Zoom lectures, and through discipleship group, teamwork and personal study. And….it’s free! It can be done for 15 credits towards the Diploma in Christian Studies (through St John’s College) or just for audit (personal learning).

Any questions or Expressions of Interest to Archdeacon Gendy, and keep an eye out for further communications and opportunities to sign up towards the end of the year.

Archdeacon David Rowe also spoke in support of this course, particularly as it related to parish Mission Action Plans.
