Ordinations

We are called together as a whole church in our times of ordination to proclaim with thanksgiving:

Blessed are you, God our creator, God in history, God in revelation; throughout the ages your unchanging purpose has created a people to love and serve you. (NZPB, p.896)

Ordination services are one of the highlights of the year, and we’ve learnt a lot over the last couple of years about how to celebrate well in this season. Last year, we had the epic ‘ordainathon’ in which +Justin and +Ellie travelled the length and breadth of the country to ordain 21 people over two weekends in 13 services.

This year, we’ve got a hybrid model going on:

  • On Saturday 19 November, enjoy coming together en masse in the Cathedral to celebrate the ‘yes’ to God given by our new transitional deacons.

  • And see below for details of ordinations to the priesthood, which are happening this year at each person’s local context.

This way, we get the joy of being together as one family in our Cathedral, AND the joy of celebrating new priests with their own local context and mission units. See you there.

Saturday 19 November
2pm, St Paul’s Cathedral: Alison Seifert, Ruapehu; Lynda Whitwell, All Saints, Palmerston North; Heidi Nayak, Tawa; Hamish Dobbie, Naenae; Jax Clarke, Renew Communities; Kevin Denholm, Chaplaincy; Sam & Luca Tovey Duckworth, Whanganui.

Sunday 20 November
10:30am, St Matthew’s, Masterton: Rev Lorna Gray and Rev. Mannie Marara

Saturday 26 November

Sunday 27 November

This is a time of vulnerability for those who are laying their lives down for Jesus, and they need our prayers. Please consider committing to prayer (and fasting if you wish) over these dates.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to be in touch with Paul Carey in our office.
