Get one. Give one.

The Get one. Give one. campaign, launched last week, encourages New Zealanders to contribute to a global initiative that funds vaccine equality in countries that may otherwise miss out. When you get your COVID-19 vaccine, give $10 so that one of the world’s most vulnerable can get theirs. Let’s pass our gratitude on. Because COVID-19 won’t be over until it’s over for everyone.

Our Diocese has partnered with Anglican Missions to launch the Get one. Give one. campaign. The idea is that, as we each receive a COVID-19 vaccine here in Aotearoa-New Zealand, we are conscious that for many in the majority world access to vaccines is less than straightforward. Just $10 will cover the cost of distributing a vaccine through UNICEF and the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI).

“My 84-year-old dad was proud to receive his second vaccination. As a vulnerable person it means so much to know that he is safe and can take part in life fully and without isolation. I am looking forward to making my Get one. Give one. contribution on his behalf, and on behalf of my own vaccination when the time comes. Whether you’ve already been vaccinated or still have this on the cards, I encourage you to take part in Get one. Give one. and share your gratitude and care for our global whanau with your friends, families and communities you orbit.” says Bishop Justin.

We encourage you, your family, your parish, your schools, workplaces and clubs to get behind Get one. Give one. and see just how many vaccines we can cover. Access to healthcare is a Jesus justice issue and as Archbishop Justin Welby has said, as a global community, no one is safe until we are all safe.
