Found at AYM Intermediate Camp

Over the weekend of 23-25 June, 120 intermediate ages rangatahi and their leaders gathered at Foxton Bible Camp for AYM’s annual Intermediate Camp.

Intermediate Camp is a chance to introduce young people to the idea of camp, while also developing leadership skills for those running activities, game and worship.

The theme of the camp was ‘Found’. We looked at two biblical stories about us being lost in our own ways of life and how we are actually now found!

The story of the lost sheep (Luke 15:1-7) was our focus for Saturday morning and then the story of the lost sons (Luke 15:11-32) was our focus for Saturday night.

Around these sessions we had the ever popular Amazing Race (an afternoon of team based activities), a night time game (Omnivores, Carnivores and Herbivores), and some workshops on taking what we had learnt home (reading the bible, prayer and gratitude journaling).

For the entire weekend camp was sorted into 8 ‘detective’ teams: Dora the Explorer, Blues Clues, Sherlock Holmes, Enola Holmes, Jake Peralta, Where’s Wally, Geronimo Stilton and Nancy Drew. Nancy Drew took out the spoils for the Amazing Race this year.

The weekend was full of so much joy, excitement and laughter it is hard to come back to real life. One mum sent us a message saying how their young person had downloaded the entire camp to them when they got home. If you see someone who went then ask them how their experience was.
