Deepen Your Understanding of te Tiriti: Host "Belonging in this Land"

Does your parish community yearn to grow in its understanding of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) and confidence around Treaty principles?

Common Grace, in partnership with Karuwhā Trust and Te Manu Hononga – The Sir Paul Reeves Centre, is excited to offer an exceptional opportunity:

"Belonging in this Land – Treaty Basics from a Christian Perspective," a two-part video workshop designed specifically for faith communities.

This isn't just about ticking a box. As a Diocese, we hold dear the value of belonging in this precious land, Aotearoa. "Belonging in this Land" is your chance to embark on an enriching journey alongside your parish whānau (family).

Why is this important? Conversations about the Treaty are happening everywhere, and the upcoming Treaty Principles Bill presents a crucial moment for us all. As Christians, shaped by the promises of God who has always been at work in Aotearoa, we have a responsibility to engage meaningfully.

But are we truly prepared? Do we fully grasp the Treaty's content, the historical context, and the role Christians played? "Belonging in this Land" empowers you to address these questions.

What to expect:

• Expert Presenters: Jay Ruka (Dean of Taranaki Cathedral and author of Huia Come Home), Archbishop Emeritus David Moxon, and Lillian Murray from Karuwhā Trust will share their insights.

• Māori and Pakeha Voices: Gain a richer understanding through presentations from both Māori and non-Māori perspectives.

• Engaging Format: The workshop unfolds over two 90-minute sessions, featuring informative videos, insightful discussions, and conversation-prompting questions.
