Whanganui Welcomes New Priests

It was a stifling hot afternoon to be packing out Whanganui's oldest public building - St Peter's in Gonville - for the ordination to the priesthood of Rev Robyn Moses and Revs Luca and Sam Tovey Duckworth on Saturday.

It was a joyful occasion of worship and being reminded of our calling to be a priestly people to our world at this time in history, and also the first ordination at St Peter’s in living memory. It was particularly special for Bishop Justin to be able to ordain his daughter and son-in-law.

A team from Te Ora Hou Whanganui (whose board Robyn used to sit on) attended in support of Robyn and followed her ordination with a waiata.

After the service, the St Peter’s team put on a hangi for all to share on the church lawn in the cooler evening temperatures. At the end of the evening, Luca and Sam's family and UV team presented them each with beautiful advent stoles, handmade with an abundance of imagery and significant memorabilia sewn into the fabric, for them to remember the day by in the many advents to come.

We wish Robyn, Luca, and Sam all the best as they enter into the next stage of their ministry as priests.
