The dictionary tells us that “minister” means to attend to, serve, support, sustain.  How are we called to minister in our daily lives, and in our whanau together?  How do we grow in our awareness of what it means to be partners with Christ in attending to, serving, supporting, and sustaining each other?

EfM (Education for Ministry – Exploring Faith Matters) is one of the tools that our diocese affirms as a profound way to deepen and resource our discipleship together. Exploring faith matters, learning to think theologically, discovering what God is calling us to be and do, day by day, and doing this together, is at the heart of EFM.

By building a community of honesty and trust where we can examine our own beliefs and practices, and their relationship to culture and the tradition of our Christian faith, EFM helps us to shape our ministry and effectiveness in journeying alongside the last, the lost and the least, engaging with the context in which we live with integrity, creativity and generosity.

We have a number of EfM groups operating around the Diocese and could have more if we had enough Mentors willing to facilitate.

There will be three mentor trainings in the Diocese this year. The first is in Wellington on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 January.

Email Jean on jean@stpetersonwillis.org.nz if you are interested, or download this registration form.

9:30am - 3:30pmAll Saints on The Square, Palmerston North

Rev Nigel Dixon, Vicar of All Saints Palmerston North, writes:

Last year our staff attended a conference in Australia which we found invaluable.  It was an intensive on becoming a church planting movement based on some of the lessons from Timothy Keller's  journey in New York.  Two of the leaders in Keller's international network are coming.  Andrew Katay is an Australian Anglican minister, we thoroughly enjoyed his input, and Guna Raman who leads the Asia network.

This would really be useful for priests or vestry members.

The conference occurs on the 16th and 17th of May 2019, from 9:30am - 3:30pm each day.  Registration is open from 9am.

    The cost is:

    • $90.00 Early bird
    • $110.00 (after 30 April 2019)

To book, contact the All Saints office on 06 358 2203 or info@allsaintsnz.com.

This event is co-hosted by Anglican Movement and the Parish of All Saints, Palmerston North.  Download this poster and this double-sided flyer to promote this event in your church.

The remarkable success of the churches in New York has been a phenomenon. A key influence has been the leadership and approach of Timothy Keller. This conference will explore his approach to doing church in the city, for the sake of a city.  Andrew Katay and Gunna Ramen head City to City Networks that are part of Timothy Keller’s global networks. It will be a great experience learning from two gifted practitioners.
