Thy Kingdom Come // 21-31 May, 2020

Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement that our Diocese has been committed to for the past three years. TKC
invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost (21 – 31 May) for more people to come to know Jesus and experience his Kingdom. Jesus teaches us to pray “Thy Kingdom Come” and so we follow his leading, joining with others around the world to:

  • Pray for five of our friends or family to come to know God.

  • Pray for the world to hear the Good News; to experience God and His Kingdom.

  • Ask God to help us speak Good News and live God’s Kingdom way.

How do I join in?

24/7 Virtual Prayer Room

Our main ‘event’ this year is a hosted 24/7 Virtual Prayer Room from Sunday 24 May until Sunday 31 May. One of the gifts in this season of physical distancing is that we have become experts at gathering to pray together across distances – whether the Diocese or the world!

More details on how to join the 24/7 Virtual Prayer Room will be available shortly. The prayer room will be hosted by different parishes and mission units throughout the week – but will be available 24/7 for anyone to join in. Come be a part of this prayer movement and invite your friends and family to join with you!

Thy Kingdom Come at Home Resources

We have put together these resources to help you, your whānau and your local faith community to pray and worship together over this time including daily prayer liturgies and house church/small group resources. These will be available on movement online.org.nz shortly.

Praying for our World

Our engagement this year is supported by NZCMS and the Intercultural Communities Project. They have created some beautiful multimedia to connect us to God’s work throughout the world, to join with others in prayer, and to consider how else we can be involved in God’s mission. These are also an encouragement to those in the videos – that others around the world will be praying for those things they deeply long for in their own community. Watch these videos here.
