Rapid Re-homing

At 9:20am Sunday morning Patricia Cooper received a call from Jake at the Red Cross, “That family of five you collected for a little while back need to move into their new house on Tuesday evening. Can you do it? Oh, and they are now a family of seven!”

Patricia’s answer was “yes, of course,” and she quickly got on the phone to Gendy and suggested St Peter’s might be a good parish to help with the house set up.

Given the short timeframe the Red Cross are providing the bedding for the extra two family members, and the team of five volunteers from St Peter’s set up the house this afternoon, leaving it a welcoming home for the family.

With the changes to re-housing former refugees, we are now able to react rapidly to the needs when they pop up like this.

If you are interested in serving in one of our three new volunteer coordinator roles (Household Set-up Coordinator, Inventory Coordinator, Household Goods Collection Coordinator), see our volunteer vacancy or contact Gendy.
