The Games Northern

The Northern AYM Games took place last Friday and Davis from our Palmerston North whānau tells us what went down.

For games this year, we decided to have a dodgeball comp, and we were fortunate to have the Shannon crew join us. We mixed our groups to form our elemental teams for 2023, as we would gather a further three times over the course of the year, including the Easter Retreat coming up. This allows us to begin building bonds and connections within the elemental teams, and with other youth groups that will join us throughout the year.

The dodgeball games were 5 minutes each, this forced each team to get as many of the opposition's team out before the time was up.

All the games were very close, with the finals coming down to Wind and Water battling it out. Unfortunately, Water ran away with the win, with 3 more players that Wind left in the game! Fairplay had to go to team Fire, for their teamwork and punching way above their weight.

We ended the night, with a cool off at the Lido pools, with water slides, inflatables and some awesome kai! Big thanks to Lee and his crew from Shannon for making the trip, and looking forward to catching up again with Shannon and other crews in term 2.
