It doesn’t get much better than this – two baptisms and a wedding all in the same week and all held at St Hilda’s in Upper Hutt. It was a great privilege for me to baptise my 20 month old grandson, James, on Sunday 3 May, a few days later to baptise my big sister and then to top the week off to marry her and her partner of 39 years on Saturday 9 May!
The words on the front of the wedding invitation said it all – “Believe That Anything Is Possible” – miracles do happen and they did. It was a wonderful weekend of celebration with family and friends as we all gathered in Wellington for the great occasions.
The months preceding the celebrations had been difficult ones for both my sister and now brother in law, and they were both on the parish prayer list. Answered prayer is truly a beautiful thing. Having witnessed the transformation within each of them brought about by the love, joy and especially hope as they planned and anticipated her baptism and their wedding has reaffirmed for me that our God truly is a God of love and healing.
