Deacon seeks generous support for mountaintop experience

Rev Amber Leonard Schoss, one of our new deacons, resides in the former bishop’s residence in Wellington and provides accommodation and wrap-around support to a group of young people who have previously been in need of emergency housing.  The household has become like whānau, and together with her husband Rob, an experienced snowboarder, she’s hoping to provide the group with a mountaintop experience – literally!

After a generous donor gifted the group with season passes to Mt Ruapehu’s snowfields, Amber is hoping to source enough gear for the young adults to be able to go to the snow every few weeks over winter, providing a new experience for them that will build resilience and camaraderie.

Amber is seeking full sets of gear, preferably as gifts rather than loans.  She is seeking snowboards, boots, bindings, protective clothing, as well as accommodation for the household to use while they are at the mountain.

If you are in a position to give to this initiative, please contact Amber directly on karjah@gmail.com.
