Reverend Chris Dodds, Parish of Miramar-Seatoun-Strathmore

The Reverend Chris Dodds, his wife Kara and their 18 month old son Barnaby have accepted the Bishops’ invitation to lead the Peninsula parish of Miramar-Seatoun-Strathmore.  His installation as Vicar in the parish will take place at St Aidan’s, Miramar on Sunday 4 November 2018 at 3.00pm.  Clergy are invited to robe in alb and red stole, and all are welcome.

Chris has been a Curate at Church of the Cross in the centre of Boston, Massachusetts, USA, prior to this studying at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and serving as a youth pastor.  Originally from Otago where he obtained a law degree, Chris lived in Wellington from 2002 where he met Kara, both being involved in youth and student ministry in Wellington.

Chris says that Wellington is a city they’ve both felt strongly called to, and they have been hoping to return since the day they left.

Chris wrote in July:

Kara and I have been married for 8 years, and we have an 18 month old son, Barnaby. We’ve been living in Boston for the last 6 years, where I studied at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, served as a youth pastor for 2 years, and have most recently served for 3 years as Curate at Church of the Cross.

We’re excited about our move back to Wellington to join you all on mission and as whanau in Christ. Kara was born and raised in the USA, but spent 5 years in Wellington, and I called the city home for 13 years, working in youth ministry, enterprise education, hospitality, intellectual property law, and tourism. I love to read and write (ideally with a good cup of coffee beside me), and enjoy swimming and playing basketball (though the body’s telling me I might need to trade this in for lawn bowls in the near future). Most of all though, Kara and I love walking with people on their journeys of faith, providing encouragement and support as we respond to Jesus’ invitation to follow him.

We praise God for the opportunity to come back to Wellington and serve alongside you all. Wellington is a city we’ve both felt strongly called to, and we’ve been hoping to return since the day we left. See you soon!
