Reverend Jenny Dawson was commissioned as the new Wellington Diocesan Association of Anglican Women (AAW) Chaplain at the AGM last week on Saturday 9 May in the Belmont Archdeaconry. Jenny was formerly Bishop’s Chaplain at the Waiapu Cathedral of St John’s in Napier, and Regional Dean in Hawkes Bay before returning to Wellington late last year to set up her own consultancy in Spiritual Direction. This move back to Wellington was very timely for AAW as they were searching for a new Chaplain with the intended retirement of Reverend Dorothy Howard. Jenny has strong links with AAW and Mothers Union (MU), and combined with her many attributes, including her enthusiasm, her spiritual convictions and love of learning all made Jenny an excellent choice of Chaplain for AAW. The Wellington Diocesan Executive are excited to embark on this journey with Jenny.
Reverend Dorothy Howard was commissioned as the Wellington Diocesan AAW Chaplain at the AGM in 2009, and was the first AAW Chaplain for the Diocese. During her time as Chaplain Dorothy has capably led the Belmont Archdeaconry of AAW and her local St James group. Dorothy has been a wonderful Chaplain supporting AAW to fulfil their aims by guiding and supporting the Executive, and the larger group both spiritually and pastorally in her warm caring way. Dorothy’s contribution to AAW will be missed.
