If you’re a coffee lover, there is a very “appealing” way to support the Wellington City Mission’s Winter Appeal this week.
Today, the Mission is kicking off an exciting campaign with local cafés called The Great Wellington Pick Me Up! From Monday 14 May – Sunday 20 May, people across the region will have the chance to add a .50c donation to their purchase at participating cafés. Every donation will help someone in need, and also give you an entry into a special prize draw to win free a coffee for a year! Many cafés across Greater Wellington are taking part in this campaign – to find one near you, click here.
The generous donations received during The Great Wellington Pick Me Up and this past weekend’s Food Show will help support the Mission’s work with people in need during the winter months. Through their Foodbank they’ll provide food parcels for families on low incomes, so they don’t have to choose between food and heating this winter. Their financial mentors will help people avoid falling into crippling debt because they can’t pay a large power bill. In their Drop-in Centre, they’ll continue to offer hot meals, daytime shelter and a place of community for people facing social isolation or homelessness.
The impact of this support often goes much further than we realise. Along with helping people get through the challenging winter months, it sets them up for a better future too. Last year the Mission provided over 3,500 food parcels from its Foodbank and over 23,000 meal servings in its Drop-in Centre. For more information about The Winter Appeal visit their website. Thanks for your support!
