You may have heard that “Spiral Network” is the new name for the Pioneer Development Unit. The spiral is a picture that captures the idea of new things unfolding yet still attached to the centre and the old. It’s a network of different groups who are pioneering new ways of doing church or are reaching into the places where the church doesn’t usually reach. Groups include the Levin Greenhouse, Urban Vision teams, Blueprint, Victoria University chaplaincy, Strathmore Community Church; and other groups are also circulating as we gather momentum. Both Amber Leonard and I are the chaplains of the Spiral Network this year, working alongside Bishop Justin and Bishop Ellie to make sure these exciting groups are supported and developed. It’s a season in our church history where having groups like these working among us is such a gift. We need what they offer us and they need what we offer them, it’s so great when the body of Christ is moving in the different gifts and callings. Please join us in praying blessing and strength on those who are following God’s call into new arenas with all the struggle and cost as well as excitement that this brings.
