What does it mean to not believe? “New Atheists,” like scientist Richard Dawkins, express disbelief through active opposition to religion in any form. And the “Nones” express unbelief through passive disaffiliation from traditional forms of religion. This daylong symposium from New Zealand Christians in Science will explore these varieties of skepticism in their social, scientific, political, and spiritual dimensions.
The keynote speaker is Prof. Peter Lineham who will address the question: why is “No Religion” on the rise? Other speakers include: Prof. Carolyn King, Dr. Graeme Finlay, Prof. Jeff Tallon, Sonya Lewthwaite.
