The College has a unique and vital role as an educational and spiritual resource for the whole Anglican Communion and the Diocese of Jerusalem. It aims to provide profound, authentic and spiritually nourishing experiences for all who attend its courses. Its current priorities include achieving wider participation in its courses, developing opportunities for interfaith dialogue, and supporting the Diocese of Jerusalem.
The new Dean will be responsible for leading the College at a time of great opportunity, developing and overseeing its range of courses, upholding its academic standards and promoting it world-wide as a place through which lives are transformed and faith renewed.
The successful candidate will have…
- proven leadership qualities with a deep commitment to the vision of St George’s College
- excellent academic qualifications – further degree or equivalent
- a clear understanding and experience of management, governance, strategic and business planning, including marketing and fundraising
- skills to work with sensitivity and flexibility in the complex and diverse environment of the Middle East
- well-developed communication and negotiation skills
Salary, benefits and starting date to be negotiated, but will include an apartment in the College. The initial appointment is for 3 years, but is renewable subject to a review of the post and the needs of the College.
As the post holder will be required to conduct worship in the Cathedral and other churches in the Diocese when needed, the post is subject to an occupational requirement that the holder be an ordained priest in the Anglican/Episcopal tradition, prepared and able to work as a priest under the Canons of the Diocese of Jerusalem. These do not allow for the ministry of women priests.
