2017 has been an eventful and fruitful year for our work supporting refugee resettlement, and our last intake of former refugee families is now upon us, meaning that it’s time to round up the troops for one last effort to check and sort donated household items at the Cathedral over two days – next Monday and Tuesday.
We start the day at the Loaves and Fishes Hall at 9.45am with morning tea, introductions and a briefing, and then go through until about 4.30pm. We provide morning and afternoon tea and lunch, and lots of good company.
For this intake, we are also working next Friday the 8th and Saturday the 9th of December at the Catholic Centre sorting through all other donated goods that we have, with the aim to make up some starter house hold lots for parishes and to see what we have left. We have found people to be very generous and this is the first time this year we have the time and space to do a stocktake of what we have remaining.
