Lutheran Church joins in worship at Cathedral for 500th anniversary of Reformation

On Sunday October 29 the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul will worship with St Paul’s Lutheran Church to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. A Bach Cantata Vespers service will take place at the Cathedral at 5pm, led by the Cathedral Choir and the Chiesa Ensemble under the direction of US conductor and organist Rick Erickson. The service will include JS Bach’s Reformation Cantata ‘Ein Feste Burg ist unser Gott’, BWV 80, along with Bach’s double choir motet ‘Der Geist hilft unser Schwachheit auf’, BWV 226. This will be a very special chance to worship with our Lutheran brothers and sisters and to experience one of the great Bach cantatas in its proper liturgical context.  Click here for the event poster.
