Living Together as Team – Report from the Leadership Development Day

An incredible turnout of leaders from throughout the Diocese spent Saturday being challenged, inspired and educated.  Rev Jon Hartley, Nigel Dixon and Bishop Justin shared from their decades of experience of leading in a variety of contexts.

Jon and Nigel included thinking from Jim Collins (Good to Great) and Patrick Lencioni (5 Dysfunctions of a Team) respectively as they reflected on the successes and failures they have experienced in leadership.  Bishop Justin drew from the appointing of 12 Apostles form Mark’s Gospel as his text for his teaching on leading discipleship groups as the “engine room” of the Church.

The lessons from these three experienced leaders were clearly relevant and timely as the enthusiastic nodding and slightly awkward, knowing laughter of the audience at St Paul’s, Paraparaumu indicated.  The conversations afterwards reinforced how important the shared life of our leadership teams is to the Mission of the Church and our leaders departed with a renewed commitment to doing life well together.
