August has been a month of prayer and reflection on the housing crisis. To conclude this month, churches are holding services of lament on Sunday 27 August in five locations around the diocese. Four of these will be held in empty Housing New Zealand land.
What is a service of lament? It is an opportunity to mark our grief and sorrow – in this case at our country’s failure to adequately house our people. At these services we will publicly acknowledge that the state of our housing crisis is not okay, and pray for adequate housing for all New Zealanders.
You are warmly invited to attend. Children are welcome at all services. To stay updated, for example about wet weather contingency plans, visit the Facebook event pages for each service below. Alternatively, contact Diocesan Advocacy Enabler Kate Day on 022 315 6499.
