Josephine (Jo) Ann Baker, born on 6 February 1938, died on 26 July 2017. Jo worked as the Bishop’s Secretary from approximately 1983 until early 1997, first for Bishop Edward Norman and later for Archbishop Brian Davis.
Jo was widowed very young, and her husband Aramiha (Sonny) was a member of the Diocesan Standing Committee. She knew the clergy of the Diocese well and her door was always open. Jo was a faithful servant of God in this Diocese.
Jo had been unwell for about 18 months and about a year ago moved into Selwyn Village from her home in the Coromandel. Her funeral was held at Pt Chevalier on Saturday 29 July, and the interment of her ashes was held at Waimea in the Hokianga on Sunday. Jo is survived by her three children Timoti, Clare and Shona, and grandchildren.
May she rest in Peace and Rise in Glory.
