ChangeMakers street appeal collectors needed

On World Refugee Day, you can make a difference.  ChangeMakers Refugee Forum, a non-governmental organisation that works towards full participation for former refugees in New Zealand life, will be collecting donations for their essential work on the streets of Wellington City.

If you can spare between one and two hours on the 20th of June, email Ellie from ChangeMakers on or call her on 04 801 5812.  Let her know the time you can help, your preferred location, and your phone number (see below for locations and times).

Listed here are the times and locations where collections will be made:

  • Cuba Street (near the Bucket Fountain)
  • Willis Street (near New World)
  • Lambton Quay (near the Cable Car)
  • Wellington Station (outside the front entrance)


  • 7:30am – 9am
  • 10am – 11am
  • 12pm – 2pm
  • 3pm – 4pm
  • 5pm – 7pm

  • Your biggest smile!
  • Solidarity with people of a refugee background

ChangeMakers Refugee Forum’s work centres around supporting New Zealanders of a refugee background to fully participate in New Zealand life.  This includes:

  • Community Development – including helping people learn to drive and a drop-in centre for advice and support
  • Advocacy – advocating for former refugee rights, alongside people of a refugee background
  • Research – collaborating on research which will benefit refugee background communities.
