Diocese supports anti-slavery conference at Cathedral

A conference to help people understand how to combat modern slavery hidden within our communities is being organised for late July, and is to be held at Wellington Cathedral of St Paul.  Bishop Justin would like to encourage those with an interest in this important issue to attend this conference. It is easy to think that at our end of the globe we are immune to the effects of human trafficking and labour exploitation but sadly this is not the case, and this conference is a welcome opportunity to educate ourselves and hear from subject experts. We are fortunate to welcome as our keynote speaker Andrew Wallis OBE, CEO of the UK organisation Unseen, which works to eradicate modern day slavery and have been catalysts for the UK’s Modern Slavery Act. Thank you to Chris Frazer for her organisation and advocacy work for this conference.
