Proposed change to voting at Mission Unit AGM: opportunity to provide feedback

The Diocesan Council, in support of the principle that candidates elected to office within the Mission Unit should have majority support from the people electing them, propose a change to Schedule 3 of the Diocesan Mission Units Canon.  The proposal to repeal current clause 37 and replace it with the wording below ensures all office holders are elected by majority.  The proposed wording is:

A ballot shall be held for the office of People’s Warden, member of the Vestry, lay Synod representative, and Auditor/Reviewer, and a candidate must receive a vote from a majority of those voting in order to be elected to the office concerned and in such case the chairperson must declare that candidate to be elected to that office.
