Wellington City’s St Peter’s on Willis has restarted their Hākari Tapu (Māori language Eucharist) services for the year, which occur on Wednesdays at 12:15pm. The service is open to anyone, and is a great way for non-Māori speakers to learn and become more confident with the language, as they follow along with the English translation, says St Peter’s Priest in Charge Rev. Annette Cater.
The service follows the third Eucharistic liturgy in the New Zealand Prayer Book, which offers a safe environment in which to engage in te Reo Māori and gain a new appreciation for one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s official languages.
