Anglican parishes in the Wairarapa extended their annual hosting of recently-arrived refugees to an extra springtime outing. 12 families travelled by train and disembarked at Greytown, Carterton and Masterton where St Luke’s, St Mark’s, St Matthew’s and Epiphany parishes met them and hosted them for the day. Activities included visits to farms, Mt Holdsworth, playgrounds, and more. The Carterton visitors spent the day at Gladstone where among other things they enjoyed the pet lambs and a shearing demonstration. All were offered good quality second-hand items to take away with them.
The weather was fantastic, the visitors were very appreciative of the event, and the Anglicans hosts were incredibly enriched by the whole experience.
