Urgent Help Needed: Refugee Resettlement in December

Urgent Help Needed: Refugee Resettlement in December

We’ve made a tremendous difference in the lives of refugees families resettling in our region thus far! Read the story of one of these families here. There are three ways you can be involved in helping to resettle the next intake of refugees into our region.

  1. Household Goods

Would you and your parish community or ministry group like to practice generous hospitality to refugee families coming to NZ? We will likely need seven sets of household goods for the December intake. That’s a lot of households this round, but we know we can make this happen!  This is a great outreach for your community in the led up to Christmas.  If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Kay Webster refugeeresettlement@slw.org.nz

  1. Household Set Up Teams

Would you like to be part of a household setup team? You can be part of a team that creates a warm, inviting home for refugees.

The date for the next cycle of household setup is Thursday 8th December.  Every team member of a household setup team needs to have completed the training on Tuesday 6th December at 6pm. ( If you have already done the training, you do not need to repeat it.) If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Kay Webster refugeeresettlement@slw.org.nz

  1. Sorting at the Cathedral

We are sorting household goods at Wellington Cathedral and need lots of hands! The times for this intake will be:

  • Sunday 4th December from 1.00pm to 4.00pm
  • Monday 5th December from 9.00am to 4.00pm
  • Tuesday 6th December from 9.00am until finished (usually between 1.30pm and 3pm)

If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Kay Webster refugeeresettlement@slw.org.nz
