Update 10 August: Amazing!!!
I have asked for much – and it has been received. Mel McKenzie (Miramar Peninsula) has noted “the more generous we are, the more we see God providing”. Thank you to all those who have responded to our requests for household goods, volunteers to sort, and household setup teams for the August intake of refugees to Wellington. We have what we need!
On Friday 19 August, Wellington will welcome the next intake so thank you for your part in this act of generous hospitality.
Household Setup Teams
We are still looking for four teams to do household setup for the next intake of resettled refugees. A team has two to four people in it so can you help? There are three components to this role:
- Training Session:
Tuesday 16 August at 6.00pm at Connolly Hall, Hill Street, Thorndon, Wellington
All members of a household setup team must have done the training. Some team members may have done the training for a previous intake, but if not, they need to attend this session.
- Pickup of Household Goods:
Tuesday 16 August from 6.45pm at Loaves and Fishes Hall, Wellington Cathedral of St Paul, Hill Street, Thorndon, Wellington
- Household Setup:
Thursday 18 August from 6.00pm

There are still a few items which we are seeking for the next intake
- Vacuum cleaner x 2
- Large floor mat x 2
- Radio x 3
- Electric blender or beater x 4
- Kitchen rubbish bin x 3
- Small bathroom rubbish bin x 5
- Clock x 4
- Stock pot x 4
