On the evening of 3 July, All Saints in Palmerston North hosted 40 refugees who fled Burma from the Karen people group. They told their stories and sang their songs. Local MPs from the four main parties also attended the service. Each was given time to explain their personal and party position on refugee resettlement. Then questions came from the floor. Good questions and good accountability. $1000 was raised to start a local Karen cottage industry. About 150 attended and requested the MPs to lobby for increased quota.
