This group was set up in August 2015 with the intention to encourage the parish community to move further towards walking lightly on the earth by thinking and living more sustainably. A generous donation from a parishioner enabled the installation of over 60 solar panels on the roof of the community centre, and these now supply much of the electricity for the centre.
The current major project is a day of workshops to be held on 21 May 2016. This grew out of a discussion around the question “What does a sustainable lifestyle look like?” By bringing together resources from within the parish the day will offer sessions on topics as diverse as beekeeping and gardening, housing and how to reduce shopping. Over lunch participants will be able to browse the various displays set up for a time of discovering some of the riches available in the community to encourage this lifestyle.
Following the workshop day the 5.00pm service on Sunday 22 May and Sunday 29 May will focus on continuing this theme into worship and teaching.
All are welcome at the workshop (register at the AS Office on 06 358 7824) and the services.
