Shedding a bit of light on the issue of child poverty is an art installation at the Wellington City LUX light festival (21 to 30 August).
Bernie Harflett and Donna Sarteen have created an incredible piece of art hanging 1500 empty coloured lunch boxes in a Pohutukawa tree on the waterfront which is lit up at night. This work is in response to around 83,000 children who go to school without lunch across Aotearoa each day. At the end of the LUX light festival the lunch boxes will come down and passed on to the Wellington City Mission to be gifted to 1500 Wellington children in low decile schools.
