Vacancy: Associate Priest, Parish of Riccarton-Spreydon, Diocese of Christchurch (Closes 20 December 2019)

Called to an Adventure?

Associate Priest
St JM’s Riccarton-Spreydon Parish

(0.5-0.6 FTE)

Are you a leader who longs to be connected to a Christian faith that understands itself as part of something bigger, something ‘move-mental’, something reflecting the Kingdom of God?

There is a series of movements in our city, our country, and around the world that form a whole that is the Kingdom of God. Places seeking where God is at work and then joining in. This is nothing short of what Jesus intended. In three years he released a movement that would change the course of human history.

Our vision and goal at St James/St Martin’s is to acknowledge and outwork the great commandment, the last instructions Jesus gave us, to prayerfully, strategically and intentionally build a discipleship culture which makes disciples who then make disciples. Out of this, the future will emerge, mission will emerge and evangelism will emerge. And out of this we get the church.

We are seeking a part-time Associate Priest (between 0.5 & 0.6 FTE) to join our senior leadership team and Parish. St JM’s is an energetic, sending parish with a missionary orientation, both in overseas mission and locally. Being a newly merged parish focusing on the New Testament model of discipleship, our posture is one of growth and regeneration.

For the parish to strategically manage this growth, we are praying for the right person with demonstrated skills and capability – a forward-looking team leader, with strengths in growing the pastoral and spiritual life of a parish, who could flourish knowing they are supported by a capable administrative team and a well-resourced, faithful parish team. If you are a person who has proven engagement in leading missional movements in an ever-changing cultural context (specifically with Good Soil Collective and 3DM) we would like to hear from you.

Do you thrive on:

  • working in your strengths and in your five-fold ministry giftings
  • working with children, youth and young adults
  • creativity in working in teams, nurturing and growing teams
  • teaching, apprenticing and building a discipleship culture
  • nurturing spiritual well-being
  • relating well to people within a diverse community
  • leading and discipling a growing senior team
  • pastoral Care and loving people
  • building a caring community
  • working with local Churches and Ministry units?

Are you up to:

  • joining, leading and being our “School of Good Soil”
  • managing and growing our children, youth and young adults
  • developing our intentional community housing projects
  • working with our Mission Housing Project and other missional communities
  • leading and developing the pastoral care ministries of our parish?

Then we would welcome an application from you in writing that indicates your skills and suitability for this role. You should indicate when you are available to take up the position.

This position is open to ordained Anglican men and women of Christian faith.

Closing Date: Friday 20th December 2019.

Please send your CV and a covering letter plus two references to Rev’d Sampson Knight, Parish of Riccarton-Spreydon in Christchurch.
