Better World is a social justice programme that takes school leavers and young adults on a ten-month journey across Fiji, Cambodia and New Zealand. It tackles issues such as urban poverty, ethical consumption, climate change and refugees. Applications are invited for the 2020 intake and close on 1 December.
Better World aims to equip young people to reach out into the suffering world around us and bring the light and gospel of Christ. It is ideal for young people who are looking for adventure, discipleship, community, and engagement with world issues.
Co-ordinator Guy Benton says, “We’ve seen and are continuing to see transformation for our Better World participants this year. It’s grown them in their faith, their identity, their passions and their commitment to God’s kingdom work, both in New Zealand and globally.”
One participant comments: “I knew God would take me on a journey, but not THIS journey! I had no idea that God would awaken and bring forth these passions in me. I thought that the passions I had coming into Better World would just be increased, but now I’m actually getting a true sense through God’s guidance of where my heart lies. I dread to think of what I would have done with my life if I hadn’t done Better World!”
Guy asks us to pray for the programme and to direct young people who might be interested to find out more information at www.betterworld.org.nz
