We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Emmanuel (Mannie) Marara as Chaplain and Director of Religious Studies at Hadlow Preparatory School taking over from Rev Philippa Young in the New Year. Mr Marara comes to us from Ardingly College, West Sussex, England via St George’s School, Whanganui. Mr Marara is a dedicated teacher with over 20 years experience in education including classroom teaching, Housemaster duties and pastoral care and is well suited to Hadlow with its Anglican special character, values and modern/contemporary pedagogical style. He has worked in Anglican schools for over 20 years including various roles working with youth groups and is an elected Vestry member of the local Whanganui Anglicans and a Sunday School teacher at Christ Church. He was previously involved in church administration as a Parochial Church Council member at St Peter’s Church in Ardingly, West Sussex. Mr Marara’s knowledge and experience as a teacher puts him in a privileged position of understanding how Christianity and religious teaching are currently delivered in school contexts. He is looking forward to being involved in ensuring the delivery of Religious Education continues to be strengthened, allowing children to know more about God. Mr Marara is an avid sporting enthusiast and a former national track athlete. He enjoys cooking, reading, travelling and spending time with his family. He is a regular congregational member of the Anglican Church in Whanganui and is looking forward to joining our congregation here in Masterton prior to commencing his employment at Hadlow in Term One 2020. Mr Marara, his wife Claire, and two daughters Georgia and Aisling are excited about their move and next chapter in their lives.
