Storm troopers and Jedi knights descended on Wainuiomata on Friday as the Lower Hutt Cluster combined for a youth event called Star Wars.
Reverend Rosalind Sims (Vicar) and Lyn Napier (Cluster Leader) led the event, putting together a night of games and activities combined with dinner for the young people to enjoy. There was fixing the star belt, using toilet paper as the new belt around the young people. We found asteroids in the galaxy and we even had a light sabre battle. This event is one of many happenings this year in the Hutt Valley for youth, and one of four combined Lower Hutt cluster events.
Andrew Spence (Youth Ministry Development Worker, Hutt Valley) said “This event has really come on the back of parishes wanting their young people to be involved in church and youth group, but not having enough manpower to do it themselves. Therefore by combining we are able to leverage all the parishes’ strengths and help each other out – we are family after all.”
The next Hutt Valley combined event is their dodgeball event happening on Friday 7 August at St Hilda’s, Upper Hutt.
