Submissions have now closed on the Zero Carbon Bill, and our Climate Mission helped at least 500 Anglicans have their say. For three years our movement has supported the campaign for a Zero Carbon Act, a proposed new law to get New Zealand on track towards net zero carbon emissions.
In last month’s Climate Mission, the advocacy team mobilised more than 70 young people to speak in over 40 of our churches. The young people spoke about why climate change matters to them and how all of us could have our say on the proposed new law.
Hundreds of us responded to the invitation and shared our opinions with the Select Committee. The total submission count? 563! – well exceeding our goal of five hundred.
Thanks to all who took part. Keep your eyes out for our next collective climate action coming up later this year.
