That’s right, 480 litres. Or to be specific, 90 litres on Thursday night, 120 litres each on Friday and Saturday nights, and 150 litres on Sunday night.
Why? Because we love them! One of our Diocesan Youth Development Co-rdinators, Amilie Paynter, explains: “Each Easter Camp in Feilding, our AYM marquee and crew serves anyone at Easter Camp from any youth group who wishes to come hang out and be fed after the evening main sessions. No cost. No strings. Just love.” That love comes in eye-watering (and mouth-watering) quantities – Amilie told us what was on the menu this year:
“This year we loved on them by serving: 40kg of bacon, 45kg pulled pork, 150 scones, 1000+ pancakes, 660 hot cross buns, and 50 loaves of bread.” And, of course, 480 litres of hot chocolate – we can’t forget that!
We can all have so much pride for the generous hospitality that our young people and our young leaders are extending to all who attend Easter Camp, and we can be extremely thankful for the year-after-year support of the Parish of Oroua, for whom Easter Camp is on their home turf, and who support our AYM team every year.
So next time you’re offering scones and a cup of tea after church… you know who to call.
