For those wanting to improve and/or formalise their pastoral skills and qualifications, the Wellington group of the New Zealand Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) are offering a course for people in Hawkes Bay, Northern Wairarapa and Manawatū.
CPE is now the “industry standard” for those seeking employment in pastoral chaplaincy positions within health-care, education, parishes and defence force. It is recognised by NZQA and can be credited to other qualifications, including degrees.
The course will be held at St John the Baptist Church, High Street, Dannevirke in the Anglican Parish of Southern Hawkes Bay.
Commencing in April, it will comprise nine sessions, the first of three days, the rest of two days. These sessions will be set at fortnightly intervals to allow time for students to continue to build up practical pastoral experience in their place of ministry e.g., hospital, parish, school, rest home etc.
The dates of the course are:
April 23,24,26; May 16,17; 30,31; June 13,14; 27,28; July 11,12; 25,26; August 8,9; 22,23.
