Vacancy: Part-time Vicar, Parish of Glenmark-Waikari, Diocese of Christchurch (Closes 15th Mar 2019)

Part time (40%) Vicar Glenmark-Waikari Parish

Glenmark-Waikari is a rural parish that covers a large area (250,000 ha) 70km north of Christchurch.  It is situated between the Waipara and Hurunui Rivers, and from the sea at Motunau Beach to the mountains at Lake Sumner.  There are five towns – Waipara, Waikari, Hawarden, Greta Valley and Scargill, and Motunau Beach – servicing the population throughout the area, as well as those who pass through to the recreational regions of Hanmer Springs and Lake Sumner.

The parish community is made up of welcoming, hospitable, long-serving members of the community, who have a heart for mission and ministry to all age groups. Each parish church holds one service at 10.00am on each Sunday of the month, with fifth Sundays usually involving something a little different, held at Waikari. There are strong ecumenical links with the Presbyterian, Catholic, and Living Waters churches throughout the parish.

The parish is seeking someone experienced in rural ministry, with an ability to attract young families; someone with a team approach, who is willing to train lay people.

A parish profile and an expression of interest form are available by emailing the Executive Assistant at the Diocese of Christchurch: or by phoning 03 348 6701.

Applications, which must include a CV, a response to the profile of not more than four pages, and a statement about your faith and personal approach to ministry, are requested by Friday 15th March 2019 and are to be sent to
