The Wellington Abrahamic Council recently held a meeting to explore insights into homelessness, including our responsibilities toward the homeless, from the three Abrahamic faiths of Christianity, Judaism and Islam.
Audio from the three speakers is now available on their website, here.
The Council said that the three traditions have insights about homelessness and of ways of mobilising support and energies to address this growing concern.
“The aim of this forum was twofold. First, to explore the insights and understandings of the significance of a having and not having a home in our religious traditions, focusing on our responsibilities for the homeless in our community. Secondly, to raise awareness about homelessness – why? who? and what can we do together to alleviate the plight of the homeless in our community?”
The speakers were:
- Jewish: Prof Paul Morris
- Christian: Rev Brian Dawson
- Muslim: Dr Faried Fachruddin
