Wairarapa whānau face flooding

The clouds burst over Featherston and other parts of Wairarapa over the weekend, and our Boundary Road youth facility in the South Wairarapa town “got really hammered,” according to the regional youth development co-ordinator, Alan Maxwell.

“There was flood damage right through the place.  Silt everywhere, loads of clean-up required.”  Pictures show the extent of the damage at Boundary Road, but despite the frustration, Alan says the local response has been “awesome.”

“A local guy who owns a cleaning company has offered a cleaner and commercial vacuum free, Council have waived dump fees, local firefighters are hosing the outside area off and people have offered to clean, wash and help,” says Alan.

Please pray for our whānau throughout the region who have been affected, whether in their homes, businesses or churches.
