Archdeacon John Wilson, Parish of Petone

After an ordained career spanning two Dioceses and four parishes over 42 years, John Wilson, Canon, Archdeacon, Vicar, friend and brother in Christ retires from fulltime ministry as Vicar of Petone.  John’s last Sunday service will be the 16th of December 2018, and a farewell service will be held for him on that day at 10am, followed by a shared lunch at 12pm.  John’s retirement will take effect from 31st December 2018.

If you would like to send a congratulatory or farewell message to John, you may send it to the farewell organisers:

John has been Vicar in the parish since 2005.  Before that he was Vicar in the Parish of All Saints, Palmerston North from 1992 to 2005, and then a Canon at the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul from 2000.  John has also been a long-serving member of Management Committee (now Diocesan Council) and Finance Committee.  He also worked with the Revising Committee on numerous Canon changes over the past few years.  John holds an Archdeacon Emeritus licence and will be given a Permission to Officiate licence.

We wish John and Christine the best in their next season of ministry.
